Yet another high profile act is cutting ties with North Carolina.
This time, it’s theatrical company Cirque du Soleil, which announced on Friday that it would cancel multiple upcoming performances in the state because of recently passed anti-LGBT legislation.
The roster of cancelled shows includes those scheduled for April 20-24 in Greensboro, June 22-26 in Raleigh and July 6-10 in Charlotte.
“Cirque du Soleil strongly believes in diversity and equality for every individual and is opposed to discrimination in any form,” the company’s statement reads. “The new HB2 legislation passed in North Carolina is an important regression to ensuring human rights for all.” Read more…
