Egyptian police arrested 382 people during and ahead of protests on April 25 in an attempt to stifle civil disobedience before it could really begin.
Those arrested included 33 journalists, all but two who have been released, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Many others are still being held.
Authorities arrested at least 286 people on the actual day of protest, April 25, according to Human Rights Watch.
Those arrested have been charged with incitement to attack police stations, incitement to use force to overturn the government, and promoting terrorism, among other charges. Read more…
