The Call of Duty hype machine rolls forward with yet another tease that makes inventive use of Facebook and chatbots.

Earlier on Sunday, the official Call of Duty Instagram feed shared a brief video featuring snippets of the “Know Your Enemy” tease intercut with images of a young soldier — possibly named Lt. Reyes — wearing a “S.A.T.O.” uniform. A subsequent tweet from the game’s feed leads you to a Facebook chat with someone called “CODMessenger.”

Send over some kind of greeting and you’ll get a response from someone claiming to be Lt. Reyes. He’s got a mission for you — some sort of alternate reality game — and he’s willing to answer a few questions before he goes off to do soldier things. Read more…
