It’s true that anyone can become a YouTube star — even a man who has killed hundreds of his boss’ enemies.
John Jairo Velásquez, who was known as Pablo Escobar’s most notorious hitman “Popeye,” is attempting to turn over a new new leaf after serving more than two decades in prison. He was convicted for the assassination of presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán in 1989.
Now, the Colombian ex-hitman has spent the last nine months building his YouTube channel called “Popeye Arrepentido” or ‘Remorseful Popeye.”
Velásquez launched the channel — which now has over 116,000 subscribers — after a friend suggested it as a form of repentance. Read more…
