As the standoff on the deserted outskirts of the eastern Oregon town of Burns enters its third day, the two cattle ranchers at the center of the conflict are expected to surrender themselves at a federal prison in California.

Convicted arsonists Dwight Hammond Jr., 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, left Harney County, Oregon over the weekend and were were traveling to Los Angeles, according Susan Hammond, Dwight’s wife, who spoke an OPB News reporter.
