Japan trip

Meeting and Research Outcomes

Identified project for collaboration• Research on the making of soil cover and hydrogel from fibers.
• Research on the hydrogel in oil and water separation application.
Collaboration• Between UTM-NUT: cellulose hydrogel project.
• Due to the interest of several companies in Japan towards oil and water separation, NUT tried to connect them with UTM.
• Student attachment/internship.
Training output• The Bio-Hydrogel from cellulose fiber has been fabricated successfully. The technique studied will be used in producing hydrogel from other natural fibers.
Conclusion• The outcomes from this visit were the beginning to a collaboration between NUT and UTM. Prof Kobayashi expected to be visited UTM in April 2018 for further discussion.
