Do refer previous post for more on installing zotero client.
Recently (a week ago from this posting date) when i opened up my firefox browser (v 43.06b – beta), all of sudden the zotero shortcut for firefox went missing.
Hmm where did this shortcut pergi nie…. dia pergi rumah mak dia ke? 😆
So i checked out the missing extension under Firefox Add-ons Manager and found out the add-on was automatically set to disable.
Why was this browser auto-disable the zotero?. AFAIK i’ve been using it for nearly 5 years now and there is no security issues or whatsoever issues with these combo (firefox and zotero).
After investigated the cause, i did find the browser itself started a policy called “Add-on signing in FireFox”.
What is it neway? It requires every single add-on to be verified by the browser before each of them can be used. Ler mcm tuh pulak.
So let’s tweak around the browser config shall we?
- Go to url textbox in firefox browser and type in about:config . Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the pixÂ
- Click the blue button “I’ll be careful, and I promise!“
- So you will get sorta firefox configuration list
- In search box, type this out xpinstall.signatures.required
- You will see the firefox set value true as default for every single add-ons. Meaning each of add-ons MUST get verified, it’s a bit annoyed at first.
- Just double clicking the xpinstall.signature.required parameter will toggle the value from true to false. Make sure you set it false, so that your zotero add-ons can be enabled again. Restart back your firefox and voila! your zotero add-ons will automatically enable again.
IFF you encounter the same issue like mine. Happy trying
