ACTIVITIES:
The three-day visit is aimed to expose the students from the Advanced Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geologymodule to apply what they have learnt in the class. This cover both the construction work of tunnel and also the geological formation and geology-related work around the Klang Valley.
Few major slope failures that accrued at Bukit Setiawangsa, JalanKuari and Batu Caves were visited. Here, the discussion on the geological aspect before the construction has been addressed by the officer from Jabatan Mineral dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan (JMG). The construction problem with regards to the type of rock formation such as limestone and shale was also being explained to the students.
Other than that, the student also gained knowledge with the tunnel work at SMART and Pahang-Selangor Raw Water Tunnel. Experienced to be in the on-going work at ADIT 3 of Pahang Selangor Raw Water Tunnel by KementerianTenaga, Teknologi Hijau Dan Air (KeTTHA)was priceless. Inside the tunnel, they really have the feeling and understanding on the excavation and stabilization works related to the tunnel construction, in which previously only learnt in the class.
