AWARDS AND RECOGNITION FOR IBD UTM DURING BIOMALAYSIA 2017, BIG WINS for Excellent Skin Repair : Androex for Wound Healing

KUALA LUMPUR, 12th September 2017 – The Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) a Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICOE) from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is proud to represent UTM in the annual BIOMALAYSIA event organised by the Bioeconomy Corporation and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from the 11th to 13th September 2017.
Additional to a booth presence, 6 innovations has been submitted to contend in the Bioeconomy Innovation Awards (BIA) under the category of Healthcare and Wellness, Agriculture/ Agro-Based Industry and Bioindustrial Technology. This evening, IBD have successfully won several awards in the categories of :-

Consequently, a special award for Most Promising Innovation was again awarded to Dr Mariani Abd Hamid for her Excellent Skin Repair : Androex for Wound Healing and Scar Treatment innovation which has the potential to be commercialized in the near future. IBD via its Microbial Bioprocessing Laboratory is also pleased to be awarded with the Bionexus Partner Excellence Award under the Bioindustrial Category. The award recognizes IBD as an industry relevant centre that is able to provide high value bioprocessing services.

After breaking records in Jacksonville, Florida, Irma continued to move north, flooding parts of coastal Georgia and South Carolina and lashing metro Atlanta with strong winds. Two storm-related deaths were reported in Georgia.

New research agreement was signed today between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Malaysia Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA)

A new research agreement was signed today between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Malaysia Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA). The agreement was signed by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail while MTJA was represented by their CEO Dr. Witsarut Thungsuntonkhum. The UTM & Imperial College collaboration has successfully secured the MTJA research grant entitled Energy Recovery in Petroleum Processing via Integrated High Performance Technologies. A research cess fund amounting USD 4.89 million has been allocated by the Malaysia Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) for UTM-Imperial College to undertake this particular research. UTM & Imperial College is also partnering with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) for this project.
