Career Summary

He was involved in writing key documentations that relates to academic matters such as the UTM Teaching and Learning Guideline, Academic Guide Book, curriculum review for the engineering degree program, the QA-JPT documentation, the proposal of setting up ITUCE (IT Unit of Civil Engineering), the Best Teachers and Young Teachers Award and the proposal to hold an Engineering Education Conference, 2004.

He considers a success if he sees an improvement in teaching and learning activities amongst the academic staff, a reduction in student drop out and an increase in the number of high achievers. During his tenure as the deputy dean as well as the Management Representative in ISO, the faculty had improved, maintained and expanded the certification of ISO to include the teaching and learning activities. This has improved the teaching and learning processes,  as reflected in the dramatic reduction of student’s failure and increases in the number of high achievers.

Apart from focusing on academic matters, he has been actively involved in more than 50 committee, at the faculty, university and national levels. As a result of the involvements, during the last five years, the faculty was awarded The Vice Chancellor Award, The IT Award and The Innovation and Creativity Award. He was awarded the “Tokoh Pendidik FKA” in the year 2004. He also chaired the faculty corporate affairs, in which the main task was to build up good image and promote the faculty at the national and international levels. Currently, according to the QS World Ranking agency, the faculty is positioned in the top 200 in the world and the top civil engineering provider in Malaysia. He is also involved in pioneering the incorporation of generic skills amongst students by delivering awareness talk to faculties and conducting short courses to the head of departments and academic staff.
