Sr Dr Abdullah Hisam B Omar is a senior lecturer in the Department of Geoinformation, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying at the University Technology of Malaysia where he has been a faculty member since 2000. Dr Abdullah Hisam completed his Ph.D. at University Technology of Malaysia. His research interests lie in the area of geomatic engineering, cadaster, marine cadastre, survey and mapping as well as geographical information, ranging from theory to the data processing and implementation. His has various research and development experience in numerous geoinformation research areas. Currently (2019-2020) ,he is a Chairperson for Working Group 4.4: Marine Administration and Development of Commission 4, International Federation of Surveyor (FIG) and a member of the Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia (ISM). He also a Chair of National Technical Research Coordination Working Group 1: Geospatial Science and Technology and member of national committee for Geodetic Working Group , Department of Survey and Mapping , Malaysia.
SrDr Abdullah Hisaom Omar has secured many research grants form university, ministry, government agencies and industry. His research interest are modern cadastre, geomatic engineering, GIS, geomatic related application development and legal social marine framework. He has won few research competition awards at the national and international exhibition. He has a number of Intelectual property and patent.
With 17 years, Dr Abdullah Hisam has extensive survey and mapping experience in geomatic, Remote sensing, LiDAR and geoinformation information science with total Principal consultant responsibility for Department of Survey and Mapping, Malaysia, Malaysian Center for Geospatial Data Infrastructure, Town Planning Department, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, and several private firms. He also involved in international consultancy and contractor for Brunei Survey Department , National Mapping Agency of Abu Dhabi, National Mapping of Sultanate Oman, Makkah Municipality ( Saudi Arabia) and Madinah Development Agency ( Saudi Arabia)
