The publication can be divided into many categories such as index journal, index proceeding, non-index journal, book chapter, research book, others and policy. In your opinion, why they have different categories? Write an essay about these different categories in publication especially for MyRA.
Index and non-index are referred to a search engine style by indexing services or not. Example of indexation services are Scopus, MedLine, SCIRUS, PubMed, EBSCO, Caspur, DOAJ, Pro Quest, Open J Gate, ISI and etc. Thus, shows that index or non-index publications are different.
Journal is a periodically publication either as monthly, bimonthly, yearly, or etc, of which the published manuscripts in the journals are the collections of reviewed papers. Proceedings are the collections of papers which have been presented during conferences and be printed later after month(s) of the conference took placed. The authors must present their works during the conference and later the full paper will be printed in the proceedings. Book chapter is a division of a piece of writing a specific chapter inside a book which consisted of a few chapters to be completed and published as a book. Considering the different sections in a book as the different chapters. On the other hand, the research book is referred as a critical analysis of the research which has been properly described into several sections in the same book. While a research policy shows the interaction between innovation, technology or research which expected to harvest findings or output that have implications or remarkably have a high impact to the nation.
Besides, MyRA is the abbreviation of Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument. There are 8 elements being measured according to MyRA; general information, quantity and quality of researchers, quantity and quality of research, quantity and quality of postgraduates, innovation, professional services and gifts, networking and linkages, and support facilities.
Under section quantity and quality of research, there are a few subsections which are publications, grants and fund. Additionally, there are a few sub-subsections for publications, which are as follow:
Ai. Total number of publications in Scpous/WoS/ERA indexed journals,
Aii. Total number of publications in Scopus/WOS/ERA indexed conference proceedings,
Aiii. Joint Publications,
Bi. Total citations of publications,
Bii. Number/percentage of articles published in Q1 and Q2 journals,
C. Total number of publications in other journals,
Di. Number of research books,
Dii. Number of chapters in research books,
E. Policy papers, and
F. Other publications (case study, technical reports, articles in magazines, original writings and publications from conferences, digital or print media)
