bMIE RG represented EEG related prototype by Dr. Nurul Ashikin and her former students during UTM EIIDay2019 (Engineering-Industry Innovation Day). The two days exhibition was held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar of UTM (DSI) on 11th and 12th September 2019. bMIE – the abbrev. of bioMedical Instrumentation and Electronics, and RG – Research Group, is a Single Discipline RG of Innovative Engineering Research Alliance, of UTM. There are 4 major research areas focused by bMIE RG; electronic and biomedical instrumentation, biosensor, biomedical signal and image processing, and, rehabilitation. Members of bMIE RG are: Dr Mohd Azhar (Head of RG), AP. Ir. Dr. Rubita, AP. Dr. Norlaili, AP. Dr. Nasrul Humaimi, AP. Dr. Eileen, Dr. Puspa, Dr. Fauzan Khairi, Dr. Mohd Afzan, Dr. Noraini, Dr. Nurul Ashikin, Dr. Mitra, Dr. Amir, Mr. Johari, Mr. Camalil, Mr. Abdul Hamid, Mdm Norhafizah, and Mr. Ismail.

The prototype was a Smart-Home application which controlled by EEG signals by blinking and focusing. The system is a wireless brainwave-controlled system is at early study, was designed to assist disabled and elderly people. The system is easily implemented and has high potential to be used in a smart automation and wireless biomedical applications.

bMIE also invited an industry partner, Techcare Innovation, to present FIBOD, a fitness balance board. AP. Dr. Eileen has a collaboration project with the company for research study purpose. In addition, Dr. Mitra whom has collaboration with Biomedical Engineer from Ministry of Health of Malaysia, Mr. Safwan, also happened to enliven bMIE booth at EIIDay2019 for further research and improve the current study.
