ChemE Car is a competition, which involves hands-on design and construction of a small car powered by chemical/biochemical reactions. This competition gives opportunity to students to design and highlight their skills based on the understanding of chemical engineering concepts and knowledge. Since it is a team-based challenge, it gives undergraduate students an exciting experience and opportunities to promote networking and co-operation amongst chemical engineering undergraduates. The competition also provides a lively and challenging arena for the demonstration of chemical engineering technology. The car will be judged based on the combination of completion of a defined task, design creativity and issues related to safety, environment and health as the model car handles chemical fuel. There are two parts to each level of the Chem-E-Car Competition; a poster competition and a car performance competition. A poster board must be displayed with the autonomous vehicle on the day of the competition. This poster should describe how the car is powered using the chemical reaction, the unique features of the car, weight of the complete car without the prescribed water load, and environmental and safety features in the design.
