We use trains and planes, but they are not our trains or planes. The (Westerners) manufacture them and export them to us….We own them, but we don’t manufacture them. Happy will be those who take a lesson and warning from the mistakes and misfortunes of others and seek, nevertheless, to adopt the good they offer. Wisdom, wherever he finds it, it’s a believer’s goal, because he is more worthy of it than anyone else.

Ibn Ata’ Allah said: “God may open up for you the gates of obedience, but without opening up for you the gates of acceptance. On the other hand, He may Allow you to fall into disobedience which happens to lead you to the right path. حين تدلَهِمُّ الأزمات، وتستحكم الحلقات، ويضيق الخناق؛ فاتجه بقلبك إلى رب الأرض والسماوات، وخالق الأسباب والمسبَّبات، فعنده من الأسباب الباطنة ما يخفى على إدراك عباده!

لإخلاص يمنح صاحبه سكينة نفسية، وطمأنينة قلبية، تجعله منشرح الصدر، مستريح الفؤاد؛ فقد اجتمع قلبه على غاية واحدة، هي رضا الله عز وجل، وانحصرت همومه في هم واحد، هو سلوك الطريق الذي يوصّل إلى مرضاته.

أبرز ثغرة في حياة المسلم: غياب المعاني الإيمانية الربانية التي تربط القلوب ببرد اليقين، وتنعش الأرواح بنسائم الشوق إلى الله، وتمد العزائم ببواعث الرجاء في رحمته والخشية من عذابه.
