What is in the Internship @ Industrial Training?

An internship @ industrial training is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. It gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills. Normally, students will be assigned for at least ten weeks in the industry or organisation in order for them to apply their theoretical knowledge in the actual career world. Industrial training is one of the main components in the curriculum. Students must pass the industrial training in order to be awarded the certificate. During industrial training, students will be placed at selected organisations for a predetermined duration of time in order for them to obtain exposure to the career world and also for them to be able to relate what has been learned theoretically with the real application. At the same time, students will be equipped with the necessary preparation for working life such as the exposure to numerous aspects of social, interaction, cultural and work processes in career world.

Astronomy in Geomatics

Astronomy is the study of everything in the universe beyond Earth’s atmosphere. That includes objects we can see with our naked eyes, like the Sun , the Moon , the planets, and the stars . It also includes objects we can only see with telescopes or other instruments, like faraway galaxies and tiny particles.

The science of field astronomy offers to surveyors @ geomatics engineers a means of determining the absolute location of any point or absolute location and direction of any line-on the surface of the earth, by making astronomical observations to celestial bodies. Traditionally, geomatics activities deal with determining precise azimuth, positioning and timing. The dependency on astronomical techniques for carrying out such practices has been well understood.

Astronomic azimuths are bearings, which are referenced to the true north direction whereas geodetic azimuths are those referenced to a grid north direction. The difference between these two directions can be expressed through the deflection of the vertical.
