I absolutely hate giving low marks to my postgrad students’ evaluations. I hate doing it because I know how some of them need their scores to be of a certain grade for them to be eligible for certain scholarships.
But I can’t let that influence me, or I would be unfair to all my other students, or the other postgrad students I examine.
If a masters proposal reads like a Bachelors term paper, then it needs to be marked as such.
No matter how much I like or sympathise with the student.
