UTM have taken an initiative to nurture and develop the Computational Thinking (CT) skills into secondary schools student. while cultivating their interest in robotic programming. The initiative is in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) in achieving today’s technological development.

A workshop for learning CT skills through Educational Robotics (ER) has been organized from 20th to 22nd April 2021. More than 36 students and 5 teachers from 5 schools in Segamat, Johor have participated in the workshop online. The workshop is sponsored by the UTMHR ( UTM High Impact Research ) grant and supported by Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah (PPD) Segamat.

The materials used for the workshop such as the learning sources and robots are developed by the Software Engineering Research Group (SERG) from the school of computing with the help of school of electrical engineering. The robot was donated by YB Dr. Sulaiman Mohd Nor, Kemelah ADUN. UTMLead also has provided support through the UTM Micro-Credential platform to further launch the workshop as the workshop was conducted virtually between UTM campus and the schools.
