ABSTRACT
A robotic wheelchair system provides mobility for handicapped and elderly people who are unable to operate classical wheelchair system. Software development for such system is complex and requires multi-disciplines expert knowledge. Software reuse is an approach to provide a way to reuse expertise knowledge that can be used across domains in software development. Software productivity increment, software quality improvement and software development cost decrement are the issues related to the need of Component Based Development (CBD) as a popular approach of the software reuse methodologies. This research studied the combination of a modeling language systems, component technology and CBD methodology for embedded real-time systems (ERT), which can help software engineers to reduce difficulty to design and develop complex ERT robotic wheelchair application by proposing a systematic CBD process model and method.

OBJECTIVE :
(i) To evaluate and define the suitable Component-Based Development (CBD) methodology to be combined with current modeling profile and component technologies.
(ii) To develop meta-model as a mechanism to integrate the profile, the component technology and CBD methodology to develop ERT system.
(iii) To propose systematic CBD process model for ERT software development in supporting the overall methodology.
(iv) To verify the use of modeling tools to model ERT system with the new combination methodology for supporting the increase of reusability potentials.
