Project – Key Focus Area 2011

TITLE PROJECT :
To Study on How to Write High Impact Proposal and Development Proposals and Identify Source of Funds for Engineering?

DURATION PROJECT :
May 2011 – July 2011 (3 Months)

ABSTRACT
The Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) organizational structure transformation in stimulating research culture through the creation of Research Alliances (RAs) in strategic disciplines is an effort to forge alliances across engineering and technology disciplines. These interdisciplinary research areas are opportunities for UTM researchers to develop high impact research and development (R&D) project. A quality R&D proposal is a good start for a high impact research contribution. A R&D proposal is intended to convince evaluators that the contribution of the project will make an impact in the domain areas or domain knowledge. For academic researchers, the R&D proposal is one of the dominant ways for them to get funded or resources to execute and run their research. The aim of this study is to observe current practice of writing R&D proposal in UTM and develop strategy to help researchers in writing high impact engineering and technology R&D proposal. Furthermore, the strategy is also useful for the development of high impact team-based R&D proposals by the UTM’s RAs and its research groups. This study will also identify the source of funds to enable UTM’s engineering and technology researchers to write high impact R&D proposals.
