Assalamu’alaikum, Salam Sejahtera Warga UTM,

Sekian terima kasih

Assalamu’alaikum,

As always, we begin by praying that all UTM community, family members, friends and all Malaysians and other countries facing the threat of Covid-19 are protected from calamity and are in good health, stay calm and alert, and always obey the Movement Control Order (MCO).

1. Today marks the 14th day of MCO and tomorrow, Phase 2 will begin until 14 April 2020. All of us have experienced various problems and obstacles during this MCO.

2. As we face this very difficult challenge, it is very important that we also reflect, understand and reflect on our patience and reward. There must be a great lesson behind the misfortune that has plagued the whole world.

3. The situation in Malaysia is significantly better than other countries in terms of number of infection and the difficulties faced and this should be appreciated.

4. WFH is not easy. All of us face many obstacles and challenges. The Internet, access to information, documents and systems, difficult conversations with co-workers, constraints at home; the MCO involves the whole family, so the affairs of the children and the family are also part of the challenge in WFH.

5. As I mentioned in previous emails, we are aware of these obstacles and challenges, and UTM is not the only institutions facing this.

6. UTM provides the support system, counselling services, and most importantly the wisdom of the Head of PTJs and our willingness to best manage WFH. For the sake of TRUST, we need to give our best. For me WFH needs elements of INTEGRITY, FLEXIBILITY, CREATIVITY AND CONNECTIVITY. InshaAllah, God Willing, a meeting with Head of PTJs will be held soon to rectify any weaknesses in the implementation of WFH identified through the feedback we received.

7. We are aware that many questions have also been raised to the management including what if the MCO does not end on April 14? We have to be ready for everything and prepare for the worst.

8. In the early stages, we were shocked and took time to adjust. After 2 weeks, many have understood the various ways of communicating online, and I am confident that if the MCO does not end (we hope the MCO will end), we can do a better WFH and better support services. Once again TRUST is what we hold. Regardless of the constraints, we will do our best, Insha-Allah.

9. Nevertheless, we are moving forward, preparing to face the post-Covid-19 phase. The Strategy and Risk Team is looking at this agenda. We are also conducting a comprehensive analysis of the effects of Covid-19 on UTM’s action plan for 2020. Insha-Allah we will share this information at an opportune time.

10. At present, UTM also contributes by providing face shield to hospitals. Our team has also created the intubation tools needed by the hospitals. Thank you to everyone involved and CCIN. Some of this information has been shared on UTM Official FB.

11. To all UTM community, please keep up to date with e-mails and information in other channels such as FB and Covid-19’s UTM-related Website (https://people.utm.my/covid19).

12. UTM community can also give suggestion and recommendation to their respective PTJs and management to improve any of UTM agenda.

Thank you.
