Sr. Dr. Nurul Hazrina Idris is currently an Associate Professor of Department of Geoinformation, Faculty of Build Environment and Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM); a Leader of Tropical Resource Mapping Research Group, UTM; and Associate Fellow of the Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG), UTM. She held several positions as Visiting Researcher/Scientist/Honorary Staff at the Climate Change Research Centre of Excellent, the University of New South Wales, Australia (2014); and the University of Newcastle, Australia (2018-2019). A professional member of IEEE; Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia; International Association of Geodesy; and Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Association. She received the prestigious award of Endeavour Fellowship 2018 from the Ministry of Education and Training Australia and UTM post-doctorate scholarship to conduct a post-doctorate study at UTM-Newcastle University for one year.
She has led several national and international collaborative research in the past 18 years in remote sensing and its related technology applications. Her research interest is generally on marine remote sensing with focuses on coastal altimetry data processing, physical oceanography from space technology, sea level rise and climate change, ocean energy resources and renewable energy, and artificial intelligence in Remote Sensing.
