NEWS ON RESEARCH WORK: AZOLLA & FOOD SECURITY

Azolla is often called “green gold” for a reason. The research explores how this fast-growing aquatic fern can:

  • Reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizers through natural nitrogen fixation.
  • Provide high-protein feed for livestock and aquaculture, lowering costs for farmers.
  • Combat climate change by sequestering carbon and reducing methane emissions in rice paddies.
  • RAC system of fish farming with Azolla plant integration

Another effort of research related to food security laboratory of MJIIT, advancing food security through innovative, sustainable technology and international collaboration, particularly in food preservation, new formulation and training activities.
