Dr. Sa’ardin Bin Abdul Aziz is a Senior Lecturer at Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, UTM Kuala Lumpur with specialization in Ultrasonics and Finite Element Modelling (FEM). Currently, he is the Deputy Director OSHE Unit UTM Kuala Lumpur at OSHE Unit, UTM Kuala Lumpur. He has extensive experience in various academic management posts, such as Coordinator of Executive Master Occupational Safety and Health Management, Postgraduate Academic Manager and latest as an Assistant Dean (Continuing and Transnational Education) and latest as Deputy Director OSHE Unit UTM Kuala Lumpur. With all the management posts assigned, he was appointed to involved in the highest committee in the faculty such as FTIR Executive Committee and FTIR Academic Committee. He also has experience in developing new programs and revising existing program of studies. He involved in quality assurance monitoring such as quality visit to colleges under joint program with UTM. In respect of her excellent service at the FTIR, he received the Excellent Service Award from UTM in 2015. Other highest award and honour received by him such as Award of Excellence for Active Blended Learning Course, Excellent Master Project Supervisor Award, Bronze Award in Malaysia Nuclear Innovation Day and Silver Award in NALI 2020 Exhibition and Competition. Dr. Sa’ardin has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Glasgow University and Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from UTM. He is the recipient of SLAB scholarships from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia (MOHE) for his research studies. His higher academic background was started in UTM by received a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautics) in 1995, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautics) in 1998. In UTM, he is the member of Vehicle Safety Research Group in Innovative Engineering Research Alliance. His research interests are in Ultrasonics Metal Forming, Finite Element Modelling, Finite Element Analysis, Material and Composite Process, Safety Engineering and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). In the past few years, Dr. Sa’ardin has actively conducted research for superimposed ultrasonic excitation on metal forming, mechanical properties of quasi-static and ultrasonic compression of metal, design of ultrasonic tool and characterising the acoustoplastic effect in an ultrasonically assisted metal forming process. Dr. Sa’ardin also involved in other research interest that related to material and composite such as design and development of hybrid bio-nanocomposites filament, acoustical performance of kenaf/polypropelene composite and hybrid composites. During his roles as coordinator as OSH programs, Dr. Sa’ardin was exposed to research related to OSH field. Most of related research to OSH field are safety culture in construction organization, digitalisation in safety measure and human behaviour towards effectiveness of safety communication. Dr. Sa’ardin also involved in research on community based such as sustainable hydraulic ram pump for clean water at Royal Belum Forest, grooming future scientists and engineers from the root through fun learning concept and sustainable micro bank turbines to improve living standards and Eco-Tourism in Sungai Tiang Village, Royal Belum State Park. His research reviews and findings have been published in indexed journals and presented in many international conferences and seminars. Dr. Sa’ardin has taught many undergraduate and postgraduate courses within Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering field of study for almost 20 years. He often received higher rating during student evaluation by implementing active teaching and learning method. He also served as supervisor of undergraduate final year projects (PSM) and master courses project. He is also involved in university community service activities that involve in-game learning at the pre-school and primary school levels based on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
