Self-reflection of teaching development

The principle of learning theories is crucial in helping and guiding a lecturer to select the best instructional tools, techniques, and strategies that promote learning and better understanding on how learning occurs. The learning theories that can be implemented in my class namely “Corporate Land Management” are Constructivism and Cognitivism learning theories.

Belief and practices of assessment and evaluation

As a teaching staff, the role of a lecturer is to taking care the welfare of the students by asking the university or Ministry of Higher Education to provide the free plan internet data especially to B40 and M40 students. Next, the lecturer should always keep in touch with them to ensure their progress or performance are good during conducting the formative assessment. So that, it is easier for the lecturer to measure their level of understanding and preparing further for the summative assessment.

Personal Philosophy

My motivation of teaching is inspired from my late mother. She was a teacher during her lifetime. She always reminds me about the responsibilities of an educator to provide students with an environment conducive and supportive to learning. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the teaching and learning environment has been switched into online teaching and learning including synchronous and asynchronous methods.

Goals of Student Learning

My teaching goal is providing a meaningful teaching and learning and a key belief. I am a proponent of requiring students to engage in extensive written, as well as spoken, discourse. There are some methods and strategies to implement it. For instance, online chat (forum), or quick responses like picture prompt/ provocative picture to a central question, have often helped to begin or facilitate a discussion. From these techniques, students free to explore physical environment as well as to solve problem and create new knowledge.
