How to apply grant?

1. Start with internal grant (compulsory)
2. Apply for external grant (secured FRGS within 1-2 years after PhD)
3. Assign at least 1 MSc. student for the grant
4. Strategy: complete the grant ASAP and apply a new project
5. Must complete and submit the final report to close the project
6. Take care of your own grant record (blacklisted drop your reputation)
7. Project progress (activity and claims)
8. Set higher KPI for grant (high impact journal, exhibition, patent, filing, etc.)
9. After 3-4 years, must apply PRGS for product prototype and commercialization.

How to find a Research Topic?

1. Follow the university direction (niche area)
2. Align with the national research cluster and strategic agenda
3. Consistent from the beginning until the end (people will recognize you in your field)
4. Need to set up networking from various university
5. Consider existing facilities/ avoid idea to purchase new equipment (if possible)
6. Be creative within your previous PhD/ postdoc topic
7. Start with internal university grant
8. FYP project as medium for exploration.
