The idea of Projek Sisa Segak came from Smart Waste Management. At the beginning, this project is the continuation from Bangsa Johor Bahagia (BJB) program. This project provided expertise amongst UTM CRES members on suggesting an initiative to cope with the problem of waste disposal from the top floor to the ground floor of strata building.
This project was conducted at Pangsapuri Bandar Baru Kangkar Pulai. The main aim of Facilities Management Program or known as Sisa Segak is to help the residents in constructing or designing a strategy or the sound method to overcome the waste disposal problem.
At first, Desa Bakti was a home transit that was build by UTM for all UTM staff particularly for UTM security and health officers.
Starting year 2021, UTM CRES was appointed as the consultant to construct a holistic development project for Desa Bakti communities based on Asset Management and Community Facilities Model or known as Fasiliti Tunas Ihsan.
We started with inviting KALAM, FABU’s team (consists of Dean, QS experts), Security Office, Landscape Unit at Jabatan Harta Bina, School of Education, and Business Management Division to create a teamwork.
Next we tried to have a site visit at Desa Bakti and meeting the Penghulu and all residents for giving an exposure about our project called ReDBAK and also getting details information from them.
Covid19 was a sudden fatal that spread globally where a whole new normal era had taken over and Kelab Lambaian Masyarakat (KLM) had seen this catastrophe as an opportunity for society to join hand in hand taking care of one another.
This program has collaborated with Centre for Real Estate Studies (CRES) and Mercy Malaysia, one of the famous non-profit organization in Malaysia that had done many volunteering program local and abroad.
LambaianXTailor is a program that gives members of KLM experiences to learn in making face masks and masks extender by their own with the guidance from MERCY Malaysia and Nixz Kraf.
KLM is also aiming for this program to help the B40 income groups by gaining incomes from sewing face masks whereby the materials were prepared for them.
Besides organizing two workshops via webex platform, KLM also held two webinars entitled “Volunteer in Me” by the Founder and Managing Director of 1Moment4Them and another one webinar on “Behind the Scene: Swab Test” by the Medical Officer, KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital.
Hopefully this program can nurture the importance of hygiene, educate more people on producing masks for themselves or concomitantly for others who are struggling financially during this pandemic. This program is expected to give inspiration to students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to keep on lending our hands to the society in any way possible even during hard times.
