Ir. Dr. Hazilah Mad Kaidi is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a Senior Member of IEEE, and a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur. She currently leads the Ubiquitous Broadband Access Network (U-BAN) Research Group, where she coordinates multidisciplinary research in wireless communications, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, and emerging digital technologies.
Her research has evolved from mobile and wireless communications, error control coding, cross-layer design, and green technology towards the integration of AI, IoT, edge computing, intelligent sensing, and data-driven solutions for real-world applications. A key focus of her recent work is smart agriculture, where she leads research and innovation projects involving IoT-based monitoring, intelligent camera systems, plant disease detection, and decision-support technologies. Her work on the GreenPulse smart farming ecosystem has progressed from research and prototype development to field validation, industry engagement, and commercialization initiatives.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Hazilah is actively engaged in professional service, technical standards development, research commercialization, knowledge transfer, postgraduate supervision, and industry collaboration. At the national level, she contributes to the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) through technical activities related to IMT and future networks, including 5G, IoT, crowdsourcing applications, and VoLTE.
She is also actively involved in IEEE and international conference activities, contributing to conference organization, technical programmes, professional networking, and international research collaboration. Her current work is driven by the translation of AI, IoT, wireless connectivity, and intelligent systems into practical and sustainable solutions, with particular emphasis on technologies that create measurable value for industry and society.
