My name is Mohd Faisal Bin Abdul Khanan, a senior lecturer in the Program of Geoinformatic, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying. Having spent my early years of higher education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or UTM, I went to pursue my postgraduate education at Curtin University, Australia in the field of spatial science, better known as GIS for both my Master and PhD.

I kicked off my academic career with the post of tutor in the year 2006. Upon the completion of my PhD in the year 2014, I was promoted to the senior lecturer position in the same year. My PhD topic revolves around analyzing the spatio-temporal movement of tourist for the purpose of developing tour packages. I am involved in various consultation projects such as developing GIS master plan and disaster management guideline as well as providing short courses in GIS, GPS and its related technologies for external agencies.

My research area are spatial analysis, statistic and modelling with the emphasis on applications such as spatial tourism, spatial disaster and spatial social science. Currently, I am supervising a number of PhD and Master students from local and abroad. I have with me now several research grants from the private sector, UTM and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). My teaching and learning (T&L) focusses on spatial statistic, geospatial database and social science-GIS. Feel free to have a look at my CV for more academic and research experience or achievements. My consultation projects ranges from a very technical one like landslide vulnerability to a GIS establishment such as producing masterplan.
