So, we were having a talk conducted by the Dean of FSSH about Teaching Portfolio. An interesting topic. The dean remind us that our core business is teaching, therefore, as an academia we need to have a solid teaching portfolio, to promote ourselves and to promote our expertise. All of these things need to be documented. Our views on teaching, our teaching strategies, philosophy and personal believes on teaching need to be documented. We also need to reflect on our strengths and weaknesses in our teaching practices. Besides, we do teaching portfolio for continuous improvement of our teaching process.
So the scope of Teaching Portfolio made by UTMLead, UTM are:
- Statement of Teaching Philosophy. It should be as genuine as possible. It should come from the heart. Basically teaching philosophy is your own views on your role as a teacher.
- Statement of Teaching Responsibilities. Our responsibilities as a teacher.
- Statement of Teaching Methodology. Methodology here means theory and strategies you have used in your teachings.
- Summarized description of our teaching approach in class.
