Faculty of Education 3 Minute Thesis Competition
Assalamualaikumm and Good Morning dear readers.
This year’s 3MT Competition was held on 22nd March, 2018. 21 students from various programs took part in this yearly event. I was appointed as one of the juries, along with Dr Ain Hussein from Faculty of Science, Dr Abdul Halim Abdullah and also Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeo Kee Jiar.
I am so proud to announce that the three winners of this year’s 3MT event are students from Educational Technology program. They are:
1st Place: Kew Si Na
2nd Place: Noor Hidayah Che Lah
3rd Place: Siti Khadijah Mohamad
Well done to all winners and congratulations to all participants who have had their courage to take part in this competition.
There are some points that I would like to highlights and it is based on concluding remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeo.
- Make sure you are well-prepared. Practice a lot. You may stumble during the presentation if you are ‘not that ready’
- Make sure your slide is informative. Do not put a plain graphic, instead provide captions to support that particular graphic.
- Double check the content of your script with your supervisor.
- Make sure the script has been proofread by someone.
- Engage with the audience. Make an eye contact with your audience.
- Manage your time well. Make sure it can be delivered within 3 minutes. But not too short.
My First Article in Mass Media

Tools that I use in class #1 Kahoot
Kahoot is a free online quiz tool that can be used by teachers in their class. I have been using this tool for quite some time. Students seem enjoy answering my questions in Kahoot. RCEE (Regional Conference on Engineering Education)
Regional Conference of Engineering Education (RCEE) was held on 9 and 10th of Aug, 2016. I have the opportunity to present a paper entitled “Predicting students’ performance based on instructors’ pattern of metacognitive scaffolding”. I will upload the full paper once published.
My passion
Besides teaching, I have always wanted to be a good writer. Right now I am working on writing a book about metacognition. I have prepared the draft, now working on the rest of the content.

When somebody asked, whether I plan for a successful career? In other words.. do I look up for success? Or the success itself look for me?
Well for me, I choose the second statement “the success look for me”. But, it comes with tremendous effort (obviously). Just bear in mind that you have nothing to lose. You have a passion, you are devoted students who love to study or at least contribute something good in your life. You have an excellent attitude, you are loved by many, you speak with politeness and you are smart. Now when you have a good heart and you bear an excellent mind, I strongly believe that at the end of the day.. “The success will look for you”….
