There are a lot of important points being discussed in the meeting such as how students could evaluate which MOOC has the acceptable quality? Or how government knows that they produce high quality MOOC.

MOOC platform developers such as Open Learning and Future Learn, MOOC instructors from India, Canada and UK are among the experts in the meeting.

And dont forget me, the small lamb. Giving my 2 cents opinion.

Prof Downes in Town!

“Learning…occurs in communities, where the practice of learning is the participation in the community..” (Downes, 2006).

These are the exact words by Prof Downes; the philospher who theorize about connectivism learning theory along with his friend George Siemens.

And guess what??? I get to meet him in-person! How about that???

             Prof Downes and smiling me!

Connectivism learning theory tells a lot about how the current way of learning has to manifest on the technology that we have today.

And that, learning has to take advantage of technology as the human ‘extension’.

Looking back at 2015

I had a blast in 2015 despite several ups and downs.

I browsed through my picture folder and saw a very memorable picture of me at Cesky Krumlov. One of the famous world heritage site.

Under a very hot sun but a very beautiful blue sky, I took this photo and thought of sharing:

Have any of you been to a world heritage site before? Yes, our Melaka is listed!

This photo shows Mardhiyana at her booth during i-Idea 2016 competition

We had an innovation in teaching and learning lesson for all masters degree students.

In this class, there are a lot of exploration of new ideas in innovating teaching and learning. I was teaching this subject for semester I 2015/2016. Here are some of the exciting ideas my students came up with:

  • All in One Geometry Kit
  • Mathematics Spider Web
  • Mathematics Education Software
  • Big Book of Maths

We sent out of the projects to i-Idea 2016 competition in UiTM Perlis and won a place in the competition!

BLOSSOMS @ SMKV Indahpura Kulai

As the BLOSSOMS Project Manager, it is always fun for me to travel to places where I can meet new exciting people.

This time although SMKV Indahpura  is just a few kilometres away from UTM, it is an exciting experience to join their Science, ICT and Mathematics Week. Blossoms Project was invited to be one of the exhibitors during their Science, ICT and Mathematics Week.

SMKV Indahpura is a special school because their students are students with special abilities. Need not to say more. Check out the photos!

BLOSSOMS @ ICE HOTS 2016 Seminar

Faculty of Education marks another contribution in the field of science and mathematics education by organizing ICE HOTS 2016 conference that aims at enriching higher order thinking skills. There are also short workshops related to higher order thinking skills and I was part of them!

I conducted a workshop to the teachers; explaining how BLOSSOMS would be useful for teaching and learning science and mathematics.

It is always fun to work with your friends and at Faculty of Education we uphold that spirit. Here are my friends who also worked hard to make the conference a success!
