Prof. Dr. Kasturi Devi Kanniah, is a full member of IPASA (Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Water Security), UTM and a member of the TropicalMap research group (Sustainability Research Alliance). Kasturi has been actively involved in research, teaching, consultancy, networking and publication activities since she joined UTM in 1999. She has been involved in 32 research (worth RM 10,888,918.00) and consultancy projects (worth of RM 4,806,448.15). Her main research interest is to link field data with remote sensing technology to study large scale (on land and in urban areas) vegetation processes and functioning including their role to achieve low carbon cities and managing atmospheric pollution. She has published nearly 100 publications consisting of refereed journals (46), books (5), book chapters (3), policy papers (6), ISI and scopus-indexed conference papers (28), refereed conference proceeding (13), magazine article (1), and monograph (1).  Dr Kasturi has also produced 10 copyrights. Her H index is 22 with a cumulative impact factor of journal articles ~168.

She is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS, a Q2 journal) and an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Geoinformatics (IJG) (cited in Scopus). She has been the Guest Editor for special issues in both IJG and IJRS. She is a continuous reviewer for 23 international journals and has reviewed articles from some leading journals in the field of remote sensing such as Remote Sensing of Environment, International Journal of Remote Sensing, SPIE Journal of Applied Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing etc. She has been appointed as scientific and technical committee members for several international conferences.

She is also serving as the Committee member (chair for student activities) for IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, Malaysia chapter since 2012. Her other professional memberships include IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS), International Association for Urban Climate, International Association of Vegetation Science, International Association for Ecology, Associate Member of Committee for Space Research and a fellow of Cambridge Commonwealth Society.
