EXTERNAL PHD EXAMINER AT AZMAN HASHIM INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL
Opportunity to be as an external examiner for PhD student named Hama Qasim Hama Qushid from Iran. Qasim is a student at Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS). I was also informed after the defense session that Qasim is also a consultant who is actively involved in GIS-related work in his country.
The topic of his research is on spatial data sharing for smart cities in Malaysia. Quite an interesting topic. But in reality it is not a straightforward research if the research scope is not well defined. I love to help and give suggestions to improve his research and to make it achievable. In fact, this will benefit geospatial data sharing in Malaysia.

TEN (10) UNEXPECTED AWARDS FOR 2020.
(Covid-19 pandemic changed lot of things)
Never crossed my mind to be awarded with 10 Award of Excellence for my courses taught for year 2020. I wish to thank to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for giving me these awards. Active Blended Learning Course award, given to academic courses which fulfilled the requirements in UTM elearning system towards 21st-century learning skills.
Surprisingly, after some careful checking, there are courses which reaches more than 15,000 hits in the elearning system. It means that each student access the system at least five times daily throughout the semester!
I’m not sure if my courses are interesting or difficult until it reaches such a high access hit. Or maybe they are bored at home due to MCO and opt for studying deeper into my courses. Whatever it is, I hope that the knowledge imparted will be useful for students in the future. Let us pray for this pandemic washed away.

I am honored that I was invited to chair a 3 hours of 20192020 postgraduate progress presentation session. Associate Professor Dr. Zulkepli Majid, Dr. Zamri Ismail and Dr. Shahabuddin Ameruddin were the panel during this presentation.
For your information. This is the first time this presentation session has been entirely virtualized. As chairman, I don’t feel awkward as I used to communicate with international experts online.
Seeing a student presentation, disrupted by the sound of a rooster outside the house, was genuinely surprising. Here’s what we could says about the ‘new norm’.
