BOUNDLESS COMMITMENT: A STUDENT’S DRIVE IN SPATIAL ALGORITHM AND APPLICATIONS
Thrilled to share a heartening experience with my international exchange student at UTM! She specifically chose my Spatial Algorithm and Applications course, and during the test, I was amazed to see her dedication. Not only did she buy my digital book, but she also went the extra mile—printing, binding a physical copy, and even translating it into Chinese. Truly inspired by her commitment to learning!
Teaching Experience at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
A rewarding experience for me. The opportunity to be as a supervisor for two undergraduate students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2017. My two students, Lars Hinge and Jonathan Gundorph, are hardworking and passionate towards academic topics.
Aside from teaching and conducting research at DTU, student supervision is one of the other tasks as a member of DTU’s staff.
The student research projects are about Photogrammetry Science, and the use of Drone Technology to gather spatial data.
In terms of research experiments, new experiences gained from drone flights (extremely cold temperatures, strong winds in this Scandinavian country, seasonal climate), student attitudes toward interest in science, and many more. An experience you can’t buy but you need to gain from it.
Last year, we successfully published their work in a Scopus indexed publication. Good luck in your future endeavours Lars and Jonathan.
Exciting research progress ahead! A dynamic session with my final year students, Miza Batrisya and Tan Fong Qing, today from 4pm to 5:15pm (initially 3pm). Can’t wait to dive deep into the innovative projects we’re shaping for the future! Stay tuned for updates! #Research #FutureLeaders #InnovationJourney
CHARTING THE COURSE: LEADING GEOINFORMATION’S STRATEGIC PLANNING
“PM Dr. Uznir, boleh rancangkan perancangan utk jabatan tahun depan?”
(When you have to be the mastermind strategist for the Geoinformation department for two consecutive years)
This is where I lead the Geoinformation department as Program Chair for strategic planning two years in a row! We call it as Geoinformation Healing 2023 program.
Mastermind in action, pen and board just perfect for me.
Our brainstorming sessions have transformed ideas into action, with 7 task-forces now actively working towards our goals. Looking forward to the remarkable insights they’ll unveil in the coming year. Together, we navigate the future of Geoinformation!
I’m delighted to announce that my book, titled “Spatial Algorithm and Applications: Concepts and Techniques for GIS Professionals,” has been successfully accepted and published by an international commercial publisher.
This 104-page book, authored solely by me, represents a culmination of ideas in spatial world. I’m thankful to the Almighty for the idea and inspiration to share this knowledge with all readers, and I hope you find it valuable and enjoyable.
I’m delighted to share that Sarah Syafiqah Nordin, my talented student, has just completed her thesis and graduated with flying colors!
Sarah’s research is a game-changer – the first in 26 years of GIS in UTM, to combine digital and physical GIS into a single 3D platform.
Let’s celebrate Sarah’s remarkable achievement and her promising future in the field of Geographic Information Science! #GIS #Thesis #Graduation #Innovation
Had the privilege of teaching nearly 60 enthusiastic students the art of topographic map making using data from diverse sources for the beautiful Sireh Park, Johor Bahru.
In just a day, our students learned the skills to create impressive maps in the morning and later confidently presented their work in the afternoon.
Huge thanks to my amazing postgraduate students – Husna, Farah, and Shakirah – for their invaluable assistance in making this event a great success!
Just received a Pakistani sweets package from my PhD student Usman. It comes all the way from Pakistan! So grateful for thoughtful gestures like this that make our academic journey even sweeter! #PhDLife #Grateful #InternationalConnections
“Winning 6 Blended Learning Awards – Thanks to Our Students!”
I’m thrilled to share that last year we won 6 blended learning awards from UTM! It’s a huge honor to be recognized for our efforts in making education more accessible and engaging for students. Big thanks to our dedicated team and the amazing undergraduate and postgraduate students who made this possible. We couldn’t have done it without your support and hard work. Here’s to more success in the future!
Having a dinner with these two young lads. Thank you Aprillia Rahmi Utami for coming. And farewell Nikolas Angi Putra! Have a safe trip back to Bandung.
* Nikolas is a student from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. May he has a wonderful experience in learning GIS at UTM and unforgettable moments with campus life here in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
