To understand the existence of different categories in MyRA, we have to go back to the essence of establishing MyRA system. MyRA system is developed to assess the research capacity and performance of all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia. The assessment will help the institution attaining world-class status and creating differentiated higher education scenarios to meet the socio-economic aspirations of Malaysia while being conscious of the limited resources available to pursue such goals. Hence the different categories of MyRA is actually the strategy by the government to ensure that the institution will highly perform. The initiatives that should be executed by the institution (staff, academics, students) is in different categories.

These categories will help us (as the member of the institution) in identifying our strength and be clear with the direction to strategize the research in UTM research. As a researcher, we should have not limit our potential to only one categories. We also need to make sure that we are versatile. That is why there are many categories listed in MyRA. It is expected in our current research world that we needed to be explicit and progressive.

The other reason, because the categories help us to the best and ultimately the expert in the arena of publication other aspect as well. We should navigate and share the whatever knowledge we have to the world. It is not merely to be recognize, but the underlying principles is Nur ala nur. Nur is light, that will brighten up. Hence, the different categories of publication intended for us to light up the targeted audience with knowledge and wisdom through the platform of publication.
