Dr. Suraya Yaacob is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), based at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, where she contributes to the Department of Business Intelligence, Humanity and Governance. She holds a PhD in Visual Informatics, with research expertise centred on Data Visualisation Design for Complex Cognitive Activities in the Organisation.

With an active academic career since February 2017, Dr. Suraya has been extensively involved in teaching, research, training, and consultancy in the domains of data governance, analytics and visualization, Artificial Intelligence, and Strategic Digitalisation. With long-standing experience as an ICT officer in Public Services, she has shaped a pragmatic perspective on the integration of technology, particularly to ensure that data-driven and AI-enabled solutions contribute meaningfully to national development. As an aspiring academician who is deeply committed to translating academic research into impactful cross-sectoral collaborations, Dr. Suraya envisions leading initiatives that fuse academic excellence with real-world impact. Her long-term goals include advancing research by infusing Artificial Intelligence into the fields of business intelligence, data governance, and strategic digitalization. Her research and professional activities align with national and global trends towards enhancing data literacy across all levels of society and mentoring the next generation of scholars and practitioners for more effective and relevant digital transformation.
