SPATIAL SYMPHONY: 3D CITY MODELLING OF TRAFIC NOISE DECIBELS WITH HENK DE KLUJIJVER MODEL

SPATIAL SYMPHONY: 3D CITY MODELLING OF TRAFIC NOISE DECIBELS WITH HENK DE KLUJIJVER MODEL

Exciting news! Our recent publication in the prestigious Q1 journal “Noise Mapping” explores the intricacies of visualizing road traffic noise using the Henk de Klujijver model.

Delving into the challenges of 3D noise contours, we emphasize the critical role of noise observation points (Nops) within a 3D building model. Our study reveals that Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) interpolation outshines others, offering superior accuracy in 3D noise contour visualization.

Dive into the full paper to uncover insights that contribute to refining traffic noise planning policies and spatial interpolation techniques! #TrafficNoise #SpatialVisualization #NoiseMapping #ResearchDiscoveries

UNLOCKING URBAN SPACES: A 3D SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF TEMPORAL MAINTENANCE IN MULTI-USE HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS

UNLOCKING URBAN SPACES: A 3D SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF TEMPORAL MAINTENANCE IN MULTI-USE HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS

Exciting news to share! Kudos to my PhD students, Usman and Syahiirah, for the publication of their joint paper in the Geomatics and Environmental Engineering journal – a Scopus Q3 indexed publication. Our paper, titled “3D Spatial Analysis of Temporal Maintenance for Multi-use High-rise Buildings: Case Study,” delves into the complexities of managing and maintaining spaces in high-rise buildings amidst urbanization.

Summary: The study focuses on implementing temporal maintenance management for high-rise building parcels within a 3D spatial database. It involves 3D space segmentation to analyze ownership and usage, spatial queries for temporal maintenance, and 3D spatial relationships to identify adjacent parcels affected by maintenance. This innovative approach ensures accurate representation and identification of spaces crucial for enhancing the quality of life in multi-use high-rise buildings.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE AT DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITET (DTU)

Teaching Experience at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

A rewarding experience for me. The opportunity to be as a supervisor for two undergraduate students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2017. My two students, Lars Hinge and Jonathan Gundorph, are hardworking and passionate towards academic topics.

Aside from teaching and conducting research at DTU, student supervision is one of the other tasks as a member of DTU’s staff.

The student research projects are about Photogrammetry Science, and the use of Drone Technology to gather spatial data.

In terms of research experiments, new experiences gained from drone flights (extremely cold temperatures, strong winds in this Scandinavian country, seasonal climate), student attitudes toward interest in science, and many more. An experience you can’t buy but you need to gain from it.

Last year, we successfully published their work in a Scopus indexed publication. Good luck in your future endeavours Lars and Jonathan.

CHARTING THE COURSE: LEADING GEOINFORMATION’S STRATEGIC PLANNING

CHARTING THE COURSE: LEADING GEOINFORMATION’S STRATEGIC PLANNING

“PM Dr. Uznir, boleh rancangkan perancangan utk jabatan tahun depan?”

(When you have to be the mastermind strategist for the Geoinformation department for two consecutive years)

This is where I lead the Geoinformation department as Program Chair for strategic planning two years in a row! We call it as Geoinformation Healing 2023 program.

Mastermind in action, pen and board just perfect for me.

Our brainstorming sessions have transformed ideas into action, with 7 task-forces now actively working towards our goals. Looking forward to the remarkable insights they’ll unveil in the coming year. Together, we navigate the future of Geoinformation!

3D CITY MODELLING ZEPHYRS: ENHANCING URBAN COMFORT THROUGH 3D WIND ANALYSIS

3D CITY MODELLING ZEPHYRS: ENHANCING URBAN COMFORT THROUGH 3D WIND ANALYSIS

Thrilled to announce our latest publication: “Influence of Different Wind Angles on Pedestrian Wind Comfort in 3D Space”. Our study, employing Computational Fluid Dynamics and 3D city models, explores wind impact on pedestrian comfort.

Discoveries indicate that a 30° wind angle fosters the most serene environment. Check out the full paper for insights into enhancing urban pedestrian experiences!  #Research #WindComfort #CFD #CityModels

Flavors of Success – A BBQ Night with the Dream Team

Flavors of Success – A BBQ Night with the Dream Team

Had an amazing BBQ night with my wonderful postdoctoral, PhD, and MPhil students at Sireh Park, right by the lake. We enjoyed delicious BBQ and skewers, sipped on chai from Usman, savored the fantastic sauce from Husna, indulged in viral drinks by Farah, and were treated to expert grilling by Nevil and Tariq.

It was also our first research lab outdoor activity with our newly registered MPhil student, Wiliyan Ricky Abdullah. Exciting times ahead!

And a warm welcome to Dr. Khaled Almansi as well, our new postdoctoral staff from Palestine, who just arrived today and BBQ night is his first activity with us. Looking forward to a couple of years of research experiments in 3D City Modelling and GIS with him.

I did not know that my students are talented in F&B business as well. Thank you for making this night fantastic #TeamWork #ResearchNight #BBQFun
