TEACHING EXPERIENCE AT DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITET (DTU)

Teaching Experience at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

A rewarding experience for me. The opportunity to be as a supervisor for two undergraduate students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2017. My two students, Lars Hinge and Jonathan Gundorph, are hardworking and passionate towards academic topics.

Aside from teaching and conducting research at DTU, student supervision is one of the other tasks as a member of DTU’s staff.

The student research projects are about Photogrammetry Science, and the use of Drone Technology to gather spatial data.

In terms of research experiments, new experiences gained from drone flights (extremely cold temperatures, strong winds in this Scandinavian country, seasonal climate), student attitudes toward interest in science, and many more. An experience you can’t buy but you need to gain from it.

Last year, we successfully published their work in a Scopus indexed publication. Good luck in your future endeavours Lars and Jonathan.

BIG DATA SPATIAL MODELS FOR TEMPORAL GRAPH DATABASES SPATIAL QUERIES

BIG DATA SPATIAL MODELS FOR TEMPORAL GRAPH DATABASES SPATIAL QUERIES

Exciting news! Our recent IEEE publication, “Modelling Reoccurrence of Events in an Event-Based Graph Database for Asset Management,” explores efficient ways to handle recurring maintenance events in asset management.

We introduce three temporal graph data models, assessing their performance on synthetic datasets. The findings highlight the second model’s efficiency with smaller datasets and the third model’s prowess with big data scenarios.

These models go beyond asset management, providing a foundation for event-based data management using graph databases. Dive into the full paper for insights into optimizing asset maintenance and more!

3D CITY MODELLING ZEPHYRS: ENHANCING URBAN COMFORT THROUGH 3D WIND ANALYSIS

3D CITY MODELLING ZEPHYRS: ENHANCING URBAN COMFORT THROUGH 3D WIND ANALYSIS

Thrilled to announce our latest publication: “Influence of Different Wind Angles on Pedestrian Wind Comfort in 3D Space”. Our study, employing Computational Fluid Dynamics and 3D city models, explores wind impact on pedestrian comfort.

Discoveries indicate that a 30° wind angle fosters the most serene environment. Check out the full paper for insights into enhancing urban pedestrian experiences!  #Research #WindComfort #CFD #CityModels

Proud Mentor Moment!

Proud Mentor Moment!

I’m delighted to share that Sarah Syafiqah Nordin, my talented student, has just completed her thesis and graduated with flying colors!

Sarah’s research is a game-changer – the first in 26 years of GIS in UTM, to combine digital and physical GIS into a single 3D platform.

Let’s celebrate Sarah’s remarkable achievement and her promising future in the field of Geographic Information Science! #GIS #Thesis #Graduation #Innovation

Intern Program: Stellar Progress Wins Acclaim!

Intern Program: Stellar Progress Wins Acclaim!

Our currently interning students with our research group, had the honor of presenting their progress to their internship coordinator/lecturer. Delighted to report that the coordinator’s feedback was nothing short of glowing, highlighting the remarkable work our interns are contributing.

These moments truly underscore the immense potential and promising futures our students possess. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to support and empower the next generation of aspiring researchers! #InternshipSuccess #FutureLeaders #ResearchExcellence

3D GEOINFO 2023 CONFERENCE

3D GEOINFO 2023 CONFERENCE

I am pleased to announce our participation in the 3D Geoinfo 2023 conference, where we will be showcasing our research in the field of 3D topology, which aligns with my area of expertise. Regrettably, due to my prior commitments as the chair of another conference this weekend, I am unable to attend the event in Technical University of Munich in person. However, we have diligently prepared a pre-recorded presentation to share our research findings. We extend our sincere gratitude to the organizers of 3D Geoinfo 2023 for this valuable opportunity.

As academics, we often face challenging decisions, and in this case, I find myself having to forgo two significant academic engagements: 3D Geoinfo 2023 in Germany and a keynote talk in Nice, Paris . If not, I can travel directly from ISPRS Geospatial Week 2023 conference in Egypt which I attended few days ago, and fly directly to Europe. Nevertheless, I recognized that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and my current focus is on the organizing conference that I am chairing on September 17th and 18th, 2023.

Today, I have a scheduled appointment with the Deputy Vice Chancellor of UTM in the afternoon for the conference officiation ceremony, and we remain dedicated to ensuring its success. We appreciate your well-wishes and support as we navigate these academic responsibilities. All the best for 3D Geoinfo 2023 conference as well!

ISPRS GEOSPATIAL WEEK 2023

ISPRS GEOSPATIAL WEEK 2023

Great news! Out of more than 700 submissions, we successfully presented two papers at the recent ISPRS Geospatial Week 2023, held in Cairo, Egypt. This biennial conference brought together geospatial experts from around the globe. While the event has concluded, we’re excited to share our insights and experiences from this exceptional gathering! Stay tuned for our papers, which will soon be available online in the ISPRS publication archives. #ISPRS2023 #CairoConference #Geospatial”
