Thrilled to announce I’ve been awarded a Professional Development Research University grant by UTM! Grateful for this opportunity and excited to contribute to cutting-edge research. Huge thanks to UTM for the trust and support. Ready for the next chapter! #ResearchGrant #UTMOpportunity #Gratitude
I’m delighted to announce that my book, titled “Spatial Algorithm and Applications: Concepts and Techniques for GIS Professionals,” has been successfully accepted and published by an international commercial publisher.
This 104-page book, authored solely by me, represents a culmination of ideas in spatial world. I’m thankful to the Almighty for the idea and inspiration to share this knowledge with all readers, and I hope you find it valuable and enjoyable.
Flavors of Success – A BBQ Night with the Dream Team
Had an amazing BBQ night with my wonderful postdoctoral, PhD, and MPhil students at Sireh Park, right by the lake. We enjoyed delicious BBQ and skewers, sipped on chai from Usman, savored the fantastic sauce from Husna, indulged in viral drinks by Farah, and were treated to expert grilling by Nevil and Tariq.
It was also our first research lab outdoor activity with our newly registered MPhil student, Wiliyan Ricky Abdullah. Exciting times ahead!
And a warm welcome to Dr. Khaled Almansi as well, our new postdoctoral staff from Palestine, who just arrived today and BBQ night is his first activity with us. Looking forward to a couple of years of research experiments in 3D City Modelling and GIS with him.
I did not know that my students are talented in F&B business as well. Thank you for making this night fantastic #TeamWork #ResearchNight #BBQFun
Today, we swapped lab coats for casual wear and enjoyed a fantastic hi-tea courtesy of our very own PhD student, Usman! Great food, amazing chai, and even better company – what more could you ask for on a Friday evening?
Kudos to Usman for being the perfect host and bringing our lab family together outside of work. These moments make research life sweeter! #LabLife #HiTeaFun #FridayVibes
I’m delighted to share that Sarah Syafiqah Nordin, my talented student, has just completed her thesis and graduated with flying colors!
Sarah’s research is a game-changer – the first in 26 years of GIS in UTM, to combine digital and physical GIS into a single 3D platform.
Let’s celebrate Sarah’s remarkable achievement and her promising future in the field of Geographic Information Science! #GIS #Thesis #Graduation #Innovation
Our currently interning students with our research group, had the honor of presenting their progress to their internship coordinator/lecturer. Delighted to report that the coordinator’s feedback was nothing short of glowing, highlighting the remarkable work our interns are contributing.
These moments truly underscore the immense potential and promising futures our students possess. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to support and empower the next generation of aspiring researchers! #InternshipSuccess #FutureLeaders #ResearchExcellence
Exciting news! Just wrapped up organizing the International Graduate Conference on Built Environment and Surveying (GBES) 2023. We’re thrilled to announce that we accepted 180 outstanding research papers for presentation.
It was an honor to have the Vice Chancellor of UTM officiate the event. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Vice Chancellor for encouraging and supports our young researchers in becoming an innovating solutions researchers for our future nation.
The conference took place from September 17th to 18th, 2023, and it was an incredible showcase of the latest advancements in our field.
What makes GBES 2023 truly unique compared to the last two series is our effort to make GBES as Scopus indexed for participants.
Thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success!
I’m honored to share that I’ve been appointed as a panel reviewer for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). It’s quite a transition from being an applicant myself, but now I have the privilege of evaluating research grant proposals in the Technology and Engineering domain, as well as the Natural and Cultural Heritage domain. It’s truly rewarding to shift gears and help other applicants in their research endeavors. Looking forward to the journey ahead! #FRGS #ResearchReview #Technology #Engineering #Heritage
I am pleased to announce our participation in the 3D Geoinfo 2023 conference, where we will be showcasing our research in the field of 3D topology, which aligns with my area of expertise. Regrettably, due to my prior commitments as the chair of another conference this weekend, I am unable to attend the event in Technical University of Munich in person. However, we have diligently prepared a pre-recorded presentation to share our research findings. We extend our sincere gratitude to the organizers of 3D Geoinfo 2023 for this valuable opportunity.
As academics, we often face challenging decisions, and in this case, I find myself having to forgo two significant academic engagements: 3D Geoinfo 2023 in Germany and a keynote talk in Nice, Paris . If not, I can travel directly from ISPRS Geospatial Week 2023 conference in Egypt which I attended few days ago, and fly directly to Europe. Nevertheless, I recognized that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and my current focus is on the organizing conference that I am chairing on September 17th and 18th, 2023.
Today, I have a scheduled appointment with the Deputy Vice Chancellor of UTM in the afternoon for the conference officiation ceremony, and we remain dedicated to ensuring its success. We appreciate your well-wishes and support as we navigate these academic responsibilities. All the best for 3D Geoinfo 2023 conference as well!
Great news! Out of more than 700 submissions, we successfully presented two papers at the recent ISPRS Geospatial Week 2023, held in Cairo, Egypt. This biennial conference brought together geospatial experts from around the globe. While the event has concluded, we’re excited to share our insights and experiences from this exceptional gathering! Stay tuned for our papers, which will soon be available online in the ISPRS publication archives. #ISPRS2023 #CairoConference #Geospatial”
