I was appointed as an editorial board member for The International Journal of Built Environment and Sustainability (IJBES). This journal is indexed by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI),  Asean Citation Index, UDLedge Social Science & Humanities Citation Index (SS&HI), Focus, MyCite, MyJurnal, Google Scholar. IJBES is an international peer-reviewed journal addressing the present research, developments, and best practices in the field of the built environment, including Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Construction and Building and Infrastructure Development in view of social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability. ESRI YOUNG SCHOLARS AWARD 2022 – JURORS


Opportunity to be on a jury of five finalists for The 2022 Esri Young Scholars Award. Quite excited to see the results of the students’ work in using ESRI technology for GIS works. This award offers university students from across the country the chance to win a free trip to Esri UC – the world’s largest geospatial technology conference – held in San Diego. Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students studying spatial disciplines, the competition celebrates excellence, innovation, and creativity in using GIS applications to drive positive outcomes. Students can enter by submitting a project, software development, application or research paper leveraging GIS. I was invited to present a topic on Digital Twin at a webinar organized by AECA Solutions Sdn. Bhd. The theme of the webinar is “Road Asset and Infrastructure Mapping”. It will be attended by highway and road concessionaires, maintenance contractors, infrastructure and railway providers, GIS and remote sensing engineers, surveyors, civil engineers, and government authorities interested in digital twin and road monitoring. Hopefully, the presentation and sharing of my research and development (R&D) during this webinar can help the industry outside the university in their daily work. Thank you, AECA Solutions Sdn. THE YEAR 2022: SECOND PATENT FILING AT THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CORPORATION OF MALAYSIA (MyIPO)

This year, we successfully registered a patent for our latest invention entitled “A 3D Geospatial Based Wind Flow Modeling System” at the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).

I believe there is a need for an integrated system that can combine various data sources and then replicate wind flow in urban areas. The air quality index in urban areas can now be calculated at the street level rather than at meteorological monitoring stations, as opposed in the past.

And, of course, this wind simulation is in a 3D geospatial environment. After all, why should we limit our system to 2D space?

The Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) organized an appreciation night for Malaysian researchers. I am honored to be awarded the Grand Prize award for the year 2021 achievement.

I received a certificate as well as a trophy for this achievement. It was presented by MARS’s own patron, Tan Sri Dr. Ir. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali and also the President of MARS, Dr. Muhd Noor Muhd Yunus.

QUICK-WIN RESEARCH GRANT 2022 RECIPIENTS

Fortunately, I was chosen as one of the Quick-Win Research Grant recipients for 2022. Only 31 research proposal were accepted out of a total of 203 submissions. Approximately 15% proposals granted.

I am highly thankful to UTMSpace for entrusting this project to me. Quick-Win research grant 2022 is a one-year research funding. I was granted RM50,000 and specified KPIs to accomplish.

NEW PATENT FILING REGISTERED FOR 2022

I am thankful to have successfully filed a patent at the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). My invention is entitled “A 3D Topological Based Cadastral Management System”.

The topology here is not topological error checking for geometric errors, as most researchers commonly understood. On the other hand, it’s the central topology in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) discipline. Whenever spatial entities exist, they are linked together by distinct mathematical formulas based on their unique interactions.
