Biography

Dr Khata Jabor is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Technical and Engineering Education, Faculty of Education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He has taught undergraduate and post graduate students over 10 subject areas including: basic commerce, consumer behavior, education administration, entrepreneurship, human resource management, leadership, marketing,  microteaching, program evaluation and workshop safety and management. In the last 10 years, he has taught more than 60 courses to more than 1,000 students. He has conducted research in the areas of entrepreneurial mindset, student development, financial sustainability, and entrepreneurship in technical and vocational education. His researches have been presented in various national and international conferences, published in web of sciences and scopus journals and made chapters in book.

Academically, Dr Khata Jabor received his Bachelor Degree in Business Economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1990, and a Master Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) from West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, in 1991. He earned his doctorate degree, Ph.D in Business Education from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2010.

Professionally, Dr Khata Jabor joined the Department of New Petroleum Project, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), a national oil company of Malaysia, in 1991. He left PETRONAS in 1997 and his last post was senior executive of new petroleum project development. He then shifted his career towards education by joining Kumpulan Pendidikan YPJ, an educational arm of state of Johor. His last post was Deputy General Manager of Academic and Student Affair before he started working with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2006. Since then, he has been with the Department of Technical and Engineering Education, where he was a lecturer, became a senior lecturer in 2011, and an associate professor in 2013. He also currently serves as Principal of Kolej Dato’ Onn Jaafar, a residential college in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where he has contributed significantly in student development for both local and international students. He has served as college residential principal since 2011.
