Why did the Prophet break his fast with ruthob (fresh wet dates) and not wheat bread? Actually, when the stomach is empty, direct absorption into the stomach wall greatly affects health, for example, spicy, sour food, carbonated water or sensitive medicine is eaten on an empty stomach, the stomach wall can be eroded, for example, the risk of gastritis. So is the bad effect to start eating with something oily, contain preservatives, food coloring, artificial flavors or with burning carbon (such as satay), so it is better to eat fruit that is fresh and natural, unprocessed food.
Mafhum hadith riwayat Anas bin Malik: “Rasulullah SAW berbuka puasa sebelum bersolat dengan beberapa biji ruthob. Sekiranya tiada ruthob, maka baginda berbuka dengan beberapa biji tamar dan sekiranya tiada tamar, maka baginda meneguk beberapa teguk air.”
Riwayat Tirmizi (696), Abu Dawud (2356) dan Ahmad (12676)
