Malay people, rice turned yellow because it was put in turmeric, and vermicelli turned yellow because it was put in the turmeric. In fact, that was a way to kill bacteria in food because turmeric is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and aids digestion. Their knowledge is amazing.
