Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm using Reference Point Based (NSGA-III) was designed by Deb in 2014 to solve the crowding distance issue in NSGA-II. The designed NSGA-III has a similar framework as the NSGA-II. In designing the NSGA-III, significant changes in the selection operator have been done by supplying and adaptively updating several well-spread reference points to aid the diversity maintenance among the population members. NSGA-III has also been proved to perform better than the Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm (SPEA-II) and the NSGA-II in various types of problem.
