A very sad news today.
The fire at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), which claimed the lives of six people yesterday, was the first of its kind ever at the premises.
I am are sad by the news of death and pray for all victims and families involved in this tragic event.
Building Background
HSA’s official website, the hospital is situated in Jalan Skudai about two kilometres away from Johor Bahru city centre. It was built in 1938 to replace the earliest hospital in the district, which was built in 1882.
On a 98.6 hectare site, HSA is located near the Straits of Tebrau, fronting the Republic of Singapore.
The five-storey hospital was designed by Palmer and Turner, an architecture firm. It has two T-shaped wings.
