Social Media Appropriation in Informatics Reporting—A Systematic Literature Review

ABSTRACT

Extensive researches have been conducted in the area of social media, due to its high importance in the modern and knowledge society. Scholars have heralded the limitless and powerful communication opportunities social media is capable of offering organizations. This research identifies the antecedents of social media appropriation in informatics reporting. Many organizations have started to embrace this dynamic channel of reporting, nevertheless majority still produce traditional reports and do not engage in social media platforms. Social media has definitely seen as a reporting tool to allow organizations to engage their stakeholders and public to directly involve in virtual communication. Thus, by performing a systematic literature review (SLR), the appropriation of social media in informatics reporting by organizations is recognized through seven antecedents discovered in this research. Ultimately, the findings may assist in designing a model for social media appropriation in organizations online reporting. On the whole, the research will be beneficial to organizations to strategize the implementation of online informatics reporting hereinafter.
