Publication for PACIS 2017 Workshop

Today, the Operational Business Intelligence Research Group of UTM AIS have organized a special workshop in conjunction with the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS 2017) that will be held in Langkawi Island from 16-20 July 2017. PACIS is viewed as one of the leading conferences on information systems and the only AIS conference dedicated to the Pacific Asia Region by The Association for Information Systems (AIS). AIS is the premier professional association for individuals and organizations who lead the research, teaching, practice, and study of information systems worldwide like majority of us here. They also organize AMCIS in the US, ACIS in Australia, ECIS in Europe & the most prestigious one is ICIS The International Conference of Information Systems.

I used to submit to ICIS when I was a PhD student in 2008. However, the paper was rejected with about 10 pages of reviewer comments! I have shared the unfortunate paper with the participants during the clinic session in the afternoon.

Anyway, PACIS itself has started since 1993 & this year is going to be the 21st PACIS conference. Kuala Lumpur used to be the host in 2006 & every year countries are bidding to host this esteem conference. Alhamdulillah with the help of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) we managed to win the bid to organize the conference here in Malaysia this year. Many of the leading IS scholars will be attending this conference especially since it is organize in Langkawi. As we know many tourist love to visit Langkawi… So, that is why, we are organizing this workshop to encourage as many papers to be submitted by the local universities to this conference & taking advantage of the presence of these leading scholars to review and our work. So this workshop could become the platform for the participants to get the overview of how they should write the paper and initial review of the papers so that InsyaAllah we could get higher probability of getting accepted to the conference.

We were blessed to have the conference co-chair herself, Prof Rose Alinda sharing with us the tips & tricks to submit to this esteem conference.
