Guideline FYP1 Presentation

Guideline for FYP 1 Presentation

In brief, the presentation should direct the panel/audience to what you plan to do for FYP2.  The outline of the presentation should have at least:

  1. Introduction / title background (1-2 slide)

A brief introduction to the topic. Why is Multilevel inverter better than conventional inverter? (1-2 slides). Briefly explain the advantages of THD voltage output value, filter output design.

  • Literature Review (8 slides)

Conduct a review on several conventional multilevel inverters; Cascaded, Neutral-point clamp, and Flying capacitor multilevel inverters. Their advantages and limitations.

Review on switching for the multilevel inverter.  There are several types, i.e., fundamental frequency switching technique, i.e., selective harmonics elimination, near to dc level modulation (NLM). For PWM, we have a multi-carrier PWM technique.

  • Problem Statement (1 slides)

The conventional MLI circuit has several limitations that can be overcome by new MLI circuits, such as high switches to produce a high output level. We are proposing a circuit that uses minimum switches but able to produce a high number of levels. Show the circuit is a must!

  • Objectives (1 slide)

List down at least three objectives

  • Scope of work (1 slide)

Show the panel the scope / the limit of the work.  For example, the work only involves simulations and performance analysis based on the model developed in Matlab/Simulink.  The switching technique use is the multi-carrier PWM technique.  The performance analysis will cover output voltage spectrum analysis. THD analysis with different load profiles, etc.

  • Methodology (4 slides)

Show the plan to achieve the objective. Show your Gant chart here.

  • Preliminary Result (2 – 3 slides)

You should by now able to simulate cascaded multilevel inverter using multi-carrier PWM (I have share file).  The result of this preliminary study will be used as a comparison study with your proposed MLI circuit.

Show the Cascade MLI. Show the parameters, i.e., Vdc, switching frequency, load value etc. (in a table). Show the PWM switching signal used to control the switches.  Lastly, show the output voltage waveform and verified it with the harmonic spectrum.

  • Conclusion ( 1 slide)
  • Reference list (show only the major and cited in the presentation)
