This page is an announcement for SKAB2012 (Civil Engineering Laboratory I) and SKAB3012 (Civil Engineering Laboratory II).  CE laboratory  1 consists of 4 different laboratories to be completed; i. Geotechnics, ii. Structure, iii. Concrete and iv. Hydraulic & Hydrology.  CE laboratory II consists of a similar laboratory and with the addition of i. Transportation and ii. Environment laboratory testing.

LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CE LABORATORY I & II COURSES STATUS (FOR 2019/2020-2) due to COVID-19 OUTBREAK with THIRD AMENDMENT OF UNIVERSITY SEMESTER SCHEDULE (UPDATED 14.4.2020).

Assalamualaikum wbt. and Good Day everyone,

Slight changes for course status.

Based on the new amendment for 20192020/2 semester schedule (3rd edition) – new decision from Senate Meeting Approval on 2nd April 2020), that introduces a 5 weeks extension of lecture week from 31 May 2020 to 3 July 2020.  Therefore, inshaAllah, the Civil Engineering Laboratory I and II (SKAB2012 and SKAB3012), will be conducted in lecture week 19 (14 – 18 Jun 2020) and week 18 (7 – 11 Jun 2020), respectively.

Regarding this announcement, a new arrangement of laboratory time table and submission regulation will be announced later. Note that, this laboratory activity will be conducted as an online approach (i.e. asynchronous) via e-learning.

LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CE LABORATORY I & II COURSES STATUS (FOR 2019/2020-2) due to COVID-19 OUTBREAK

“Semua kursus makmal bagi pelajar tahun 1, 2, 3 dan 4 akan dipindahkan perlaksanaanya pada semester 3. Bagi pelajar tahun 3 khasnya yang telah mendapat tempat bagi mengikuti Latihan Industri pada semester 3 dan tidak dapat mendaftar/mengambil kursus makmal pada semester 3 akan mengambil kursus makmal pada semester 1 sesi berikutnya iaitu sesi 2020/2021. Memandangkan ia akan melibatkan sistem akademik universiti, perbincangan lanjut mengenai isu penguguran dan pendaftaran akan dibincangkan dengan AMD dan akan dimaklumkan kemudian.”

All laboratory courses for year 1,2,3 and 4 will be transferred to semester 3. For student third year who has got a place for your Industrial Training in semester 3 and could not proceed for laboratory courses, you will take this courses in semester 1 of 2020/2021. In addition, as this matter will relate to university academic system, further discussion on drop and registration matter will be discussed later with AMD and will be acknowledged later. – FE announcement. RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING LABORATORY I & II DUE TO COVID -19 OUTBREAK

We refer to the Special Announcement made by the Malaysian Prime Minister on the implementation of the Movement Restriction, from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020, nationwide.

All teaching and learning (T&L) activities at UTM including examination, viva, student development activities will be cancelled from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020.

Therefore, for laboratory activities on 17 March 2020 (Tuesday) for 8 am to 1 pm will be conducted as usual and all staff and students will have to comply with the SOP that have been outlined to manage Covid-19.

However, CE laboratory 1 (SKAB2012) for K2S3 that scedule on Tuesday 17 March 2020 (2 to 4 pm) involving H1-H5,C1-C4, & S1-S3 code test is postponed to a new date (that will be inform later).

Similarly, any laboratory between 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 also to be postponed to a new date that will be informed later.

LABORATORY REGULATIONS

Please bear in mind that:

  • Ensure to get a set of Laboratory Module (Manual and Form) from Academic Office.
  • Please wear appropriate attire (shoes, collar t-shirt, PPE, proper hair cut) during laboratory. Students are not allowed to enter the laboratory without the proper attire.
  • Make sure to read the laboratory manual and go through the form provided before coming to the lab.
  • Attendance is compulsory. Absentee or not submitting the respective laboratory code of test might lead to a failure of subject.
    • Any arrangement of substitute laboratory (due to a strong reason), shall be made with an approval of the respective lecturer and please arrange time with assistant engineer of respective code test. However, substitute laboratory testing is strongly not recommended due to laboratory tight schedule.
  • Late students (arrival after 15 minutes) are not allowed to conduct the experiment. Zero mark will be given and a replacement slot of the laboratory is not allowed.
  • Submission guidelines:The laboratory reports should be submitted within 3 working days after completing the experiment. The student must compile all the reports together, in a proper way, as a group report. In addition:

✓  All report should be done by hand writing. Please correctly write the name of corresponding lecturer accordingly                        to the experiment conducted.
✓  A front page of laboratory cover and rubrics can be downloaded below.
✓ The completed group report should be submitted at Concrete Laboratory, M50.  A representative student of the                         group needs to sign the submission form of acceptance prior to the submission.
✓ Keep your submission slip as a proof.

  1.  Please note for slight changes of schedule for Section 1 and Section 3 (effectively starting week 14 of March 2020 onwards).

NEW! Additional announcement for SKAB 3012:

1. Please alert for recent version of SKAB3012 schedule and group list member starting 23 Feb 2020 onward.  Starting on Week 3, a new group of R1 will run the laboratory testing. The latest list of students and groups attachment with end name of _23022020 is provided in the previous link above for your reference
2. However, there are some students from R1 already conducted laboratory testing for last week.  This means, students just need to submit the report according to their previous group and lecturer in charge, and your are also do not need to repeat all the laboratory testing. For any missed laboratory testing, please consult laboratory and respective lecturer to proceed (if any).
